One of the River's main goals is to be a servant to the community; to show the love of Jesus by working continually to make Poughkeepsie
and the surrounding area a better place for everyone. One of the ways we do this is by partnering with
Adopt-a-Block, Poughkeepsie—a non-profit, volunteer-based corporation
dedicated to serving Poughkeepsie one block at a time.
With the help of churches like The River, and other volunteers, Adopt-a-Block, Poughkeepsie lends a helping hand to the residents of Poughkeepsie's
neighborhoods by undertaking dozens of small projects every year, from fixing porches to planting flowers and picking up trash. Additionally, the
the organization distributes hundreds of bags of groceries, clothing donations, and more, including donations of furniture.
Adopt-a-Block, Poughkeepsie provides an important method of breaking beyond the walls of the church, building bridges and changing hearts
throughout Poughkeepsie and beyond.
